Comic Con 2008
Well, most of Saturday was spent wandering the vast spaces of the Javits Center in Manhattan. I had never been to a comics expo before, so I did not know what to expect. First of it was massive, hoards of people everywhere, the only way to move through the crowd was to push and shove your way as if were the mosh pit at a crazy rock show. I also, did not realize how many people I would personally know with booths set up. I find these folks truly inspiring. I managed to snap some pics with me and some of this talent that I speak of:
Jeff Zornow:
Me and one of the worlds most incredible horror comics artists, Jeff Zornow, at the 2008 NYC Comic Con. Check out his featured segment in the second season of my television series “ART or something like it!”
Andrea Grant:
Me and the amazingly talented “Pinup Poet” and creator of the comic book “Minx”, Andrea Grant, at the 2008 NYC Comic Con. Check out her featured segment in the second season of my television series “ART or something like it!”
Molly Crabapple:
Me and the founder of “Dr. Sketchy’s Anti Art School” & and brilliant artist, Molly Crabapple, at the 2008 NYC Comic Con. Check out her featured segment in the second season of my television series “ART or something like it!”
Mike.A:
Me and the brilliant creator of the comic book “Freaky Dinkys”, Mike.A, at the 2008 NYC Comic Con. Check out his featured segment in the first season of my television series “ART or something like it!”
I also ran into Russ Lachanse, an amazing artist from the second season of “ART or something like it!” and Bill Plympton, from the first episode of “AOSLI!” season two. Russ was just scoping out the joint, I suspect he might blast the place with a booth of his work next year, be on the look out for a suspicious pancake! Bill had a booth but I ran into him just moments before he went to the theater space to present his new feature film “Idiots and Angles”, a film that is surly going to rock the Tribeca Film Fest this year!
Just to let you all know, All of the images below are available as high quality fine art prints and really cool drink coasters via the Deviant Art website (I just got a set myself and they are very nice quality) , a great gift idea for your loved ones!
Blight the Clown was spotted lurking around Brooklyn again during the daytime making some king of weird artwork. The image below captured the action like a deer in headlights:
